It took an FBI investigation, federal fraud charges and an unprecedented complaint filed by Michigan's Judicial Tenure Commission but scandal plagued Michigan Supreme Court Justice Diane Hathaway has finally resigned from the state's high court. WXYZ-TV initially exposed Hathaway's alleged real-estate shell game that allowed her to save six-hundred thousands dollars and led to charges mortgage fraud. Hathaway's departure from the bench removes the ethical dark cloud that has hung over the state's Supreme Court for far too long.
AJP played a critical role in holding Hathaway accountable for her actions. AJP President Dan Pero filed the initial complaint that led to Michigan's Judicial Tenure Commission calling for her suspension. AJP also performed critical background research and sponsored a media campaign last fall that kept the issue from fading away prior to the FBI complaint's being filed.
